📜 Brief History – Heathrow Terminal 4:
Terminal 4 opened in April 1986 and was originally designed to handle long-haul international flights, with British Airways making it their primary base for several years. Strategically located to the south of the southern runway, T4 introduced an additional 14 aircraft stands upon opening and has undergone several upgrades since. In the mid-2000s, after the opening of Terminal 5, T4 became a hub for SkyTeam alliance members and select long-haul international carriers. Despite being one of Heathrow’s quieter terminals today, T4 remains a key facility, especially for airlines operating outside the main alliances. It was fully refurbished in the 2010s to modernize passenger experiences and operational efficiency.
